Waking Time

Okay a bit of biographical information. My pen name is Daibhi O'Broder which derives from my first name is David and my clan is the O'Broder's of County Donegal Ireland. I am a third generation Irish-American who is settled for now in Northwest Georgia. I love to read, weave cloth, and work in nature. I collect things of many varieties starting with staffs. I have a small collection of staves from a great many types of wood but my favourite is a staff made of Crepe Myrtle wood. It's smooth as a babies butt but stong as oak. I am a bit of a Celtic historian and am interested in Iron Age Druidry, what we know, what we don't know and what we wish we knew. I'm also reading about neo-druidry to learn more about how it is practised today. As a result I have a sort of extended and varied library which runs the gamut of the subject. One my favourite books is The World of The Druids by Miranda Green and The Druids by Peter Beresford-Ellis. Both extremely well written and received in my particular circle. I am a member of two fellowships, one of which is the Ar Draoicht Fein and the other The Order of Ovates, Bards, and Druids to learn more about neo-Druidry and how it weighs out.
That picture is my Clans badge and crest. I have the tartan in my dock as well that I will display later. Also I did develop the tartan for my father's side of the family, the Hicks'. I will also display that at a later date. For now suffice it to say that I have a plate full of interests. On a personal note, I'm married, have been for 42 years in October 2023. We attend St. Peter's Episcopal Church here in Rome, and both sing in the choir. I am a strong supporter of the Human Rights Campaign as is my spouse and we are registered Democrats, that admission will probably cost me a few points of favour with some. I am a vet having served in the U.S. Air Force in the 80's. In there I have been to Texas, Idaho (beautiful state), Colorado (another beautiful state), and Germany finally coming back to South Carolina and then after being discharged settled back here in Rome. For those interested in such my military speciality was as a Inventory Management Specialist for Munitions. That was an interesting time, I worked on some pre-desktop PC computers called Satellite Terminals and also worked with Base Supply in Idaho and Germany in the computer rooms to process inventory records on a huge Burrough's and later on an IBM mainframe computer. I have held a number of jobs returning to the states but the most recent is in management at an Auto Parts store which has been great. It's probably my last stop as I tried to retire to two days of work per week and due to some staffing issues amended that with my manager to working no more than 24 hours per week. Okay, that's enough for now, in the next installment I will begin to get into some Druidy topics. Hope you hang around for a while! Peace out friends!! Slan (Irish for Good Health).
